luxfer 80 scuba tanks

Hope someone didn't stick you with some bad gear.

The mfg hydro stamp should read 8A88 or higher if it reads 7A88 or lower you will have a harder time trying to get rid of those tanks, because of safety concerns with the older alloy aluminum. There are endless threads on this topic, just google if you want to find out more. Basicly some of the older tanks have had catastrophic failures and lives have been lost. Due to this many shops have stopped filling the older luxfer tanks. I personally wouldn't use or fill one, just because they are not expensive enought to risk injury or death.
They CAN be inspected but the process is more trouble than its worth, and can be done incorrectly + many shops still won't fill them.
Some of the PFF members have some creative ways of turning these into useful things ...like umbrella stands...ect.
I just cut them up for scrap.
