i love the glow in the dark jager by oti 200gram.

 

Blue and silver. Any size, any make. Green and silver as well.

 

Basicly I buy the cheapest ones I can find that are 3 to 8 oz in weight. I have never really noticed color making a difference, it certainly might, but not that I can tell. I buy a lot from the guys below.

I personally like the silver/glow oti or the silver/green butterfly jigs. I feel you can catch fish on any jig (Diamond, OTI,Butterfly, BPS, Williams or whatever) provided you use the correct rod and the right technique for your targeted species.I know some will disagree but it JMO.

 

oti jager 5-7 oz in pink. comes straight out of the package with 2 good assist hooks ready to roll for around 8 bucks.

 

My go to jig is 5 oz Blue back and for deep water it is a home made Bombtosser special WHITE LIGHTNING.

 

anything blue and silver or blue and white. My favorite jigs for tuna and bottomfish are shorter, broader style jigs like the flat side B'fly. For AJ's I like long, heavy ones retrieved at warp speed. Try the 14.5 oz Tormentor Ribbonfish. If there is a big jack down there, he'll eat it.

 

If cost wasn't a factor I'd buy all shimano butterfly jigs. I like the profile of them, including how sharp they are on the sides. This helps with how they cut through the water from side to side. Since they are $20+ a piece, I mostly use williamson or make my own.

Thanks for all the help guys! I have a couple I'm going to order. Unfortunately no dice this weekend as my boat is getting serviced, but next weekend should be good. As an aside, my dad is coming down to visit - I'm hoping to put him on an AJ or two. Last time he visited I put him on a redfish and he had a grin from ear to ear.

I agree with you. I also have seen over and over where color does matter. Thats why we try to start the day with everyone using a different color to get keyed in on the hot producer. Its different every day, but potroast/burnt orange stands above all. It just hasn't caught on everywhere.

 

its pretty hard to beat a6 - 8 oz blue or green mackeral butterfly jig
