Sorry for being out of touch lately, I got a job over in Louisiana at the beginning of the summer and recently moved over here. I've been neglecting to post any reports so here are a couple pics from kayaking in the marshes the other day.
Got a couple little bitty trout in a marsh pond on the LA classic jig under a cajun thunder. Though I have to admit that this technique is pretty boring. So I switched to topwater.
Found a small pod of redfish (about a half-dozen) pushing up against the grass in a foot of water so I picked one and literally hit him in the head with the topwater! Now if you were to do this in FL, you'd send the redfish running scared! But out here in LA, they just spin around looking for the lure saying "Where is it! Where is it!!!" like a dog hearing a squeaky toy! The redfish I hit had to fight off 2 others to chase down my lure. They smacked the crap out of it 3 times before he managed to actually eat it!
Managed to get a 2nd red out of the same pod before they moved off into deeper water. I've got both sets of fillets with skin still on, gonna be tossing em on the grill shortly!
Enjoy!
