Has anyone had any luck yaking for pomano? We always catch them from shore, but it seems like you should be able to work a jig pretty well from a yak.

I've done it half heartedly, but when I'm out in the Gulf I usually focus on other species. It's not that easy to spot them from a yak, so I would anchor in a good area just outside the breakers and fan cast for them. Eventually they will come through.

yeah, ive limited out on pomps from my yak a few times. I usually anchor up outside a good rip current and cast back at shore. There is usually good spanish action at the same time so bring rods set up for both. I usually bring a double rig with fleas and cast it out while working a pomp jig. Its so much better than fishing from shore, you can move if your spot is no good- and fish for spanish all at the same time
