Hey guys, first post here. I'm looking to get electronics for my slayer. Wondering about best choices and experiences from ya'll. Never really used them before as I do alot of inshore fishing and never needed them. Wanting to get into the GOM though and know I'll need em there. I'm hearing DI and SI as well as GPS is a favorable combo and I understand y. Pros and cons on different brands and best bang for the buck would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys

I've just gotten done doing a ton of research and it seems a ton of guys use the Lowrance Hook2 5. GPS/sonar/DS...I bought one for my Revo and I'm impressed with the power and 'ducer connections being WAY more water resistant than they used to be.

I'll still goober them up with dialectric grease.

Looking at getting hook2 5 with navionics plus card combo from bass pro. Looks like best bang for buck with the features.

I wasn't that happy with the Navionics card plus. I bought the unit mainly for fishing the Keys and specifically for fishing reefs/patch reefs. There wasn't enough detail in the included card but I didn't need the newest,post-Irma chip either. Reefs ain't moving no matter how big the storm. I found a used 3 year old SFL chip for less than half the price of new.

It has been a few years now so they likely have a newer model, but I put the lowrance elite 5 chirp on my hobie pro angler. The boat was setup for this transducer and everything ran through like it was bone stock. It has been a great unit and my only issue was when the battery was going out on me and I didn't realize it at first. I have put it to use and the electronics have certainly helped me do quite a few different things. Like I said that was a few years ago but was the newest model at the time - they may have something much nicer now for the same money.

Something to consider is where you are going to mount everything. Transducer, unit, battery, and wires all have to go somewhere. This may or may not affect your options/choice.
