I recently purchased a Penn Senator 14/0 for catching sharks from the beach. I put 400 yards of #150 braid for my backing and was going to fill the rest of the reel with #150 mono. I’m only going to be using it once or twice a year and didn’t know if the mono over time would warp the spool. Is it ok to go ahead and fill it up?

"warp" your spool, no. but the mono wil degrade over time depending on how and where you store your equipment.

In your house away from UV light. If you can pull the mono back off the reel on a bigger spool bigger the better to store it will help with the memory of mono.

only thing I would add is in a Climate Controlled space. Not the corner of the garage, or shed...

What year is your reel? If it’s an old 3 piece spool the mono will break it. New ones are fine

why braid on bottom? think i would of put the mono on bottom braid on top

Because mono is more forgiving, stretches and has better abrasion resistance than braid. The braid is for capacity.

IMHO in order of importance: dark, cool, large spool (I've used a 5gal bucket) and dry.
