I find this all the time. The use of plain copper ends, SAE battery cable and electric tape. This is on the Parker, but I see it all the time.

Those screws just hold the name plate on. I wasn't even looking at those. There is dirt dopper nests in there.

They used bare copper lug ends. A no no on a boat. See the corrosion? Used elect tape instead of shrink wrap with the glue. And finally they used SAE cable [automotive] The strands are larger and not as many plus the wire is not tinned.[finer wire flex's better and has more surface area .]

Yea.....Lets go 30mi offshore and wonder why the motor will not start?

Here is a cable for example. Anchor brand Marine cable. Anchor brand heat shrink w/glue......and then they saved $2 by using bare copper ends and not using the good copper ends that are tinned.

They result was the whole piece was trashed. Green groth formed on the copper ends. Then it wicked under the heat shrink....then it attacked the cable. This was the worst cable I've ever seen. It would crunch when you flexed it.

I cut the insulation back to look at it.

Someone in a big hurry to get on the water when they were a long way from the proper components at the time. Then they left it like that out of laziness or not knowing.

I bet the lugs were smashed on with a hammer too.
