just sitting around waiting for the run like everyone else and got to cleaning up and rigging some gear. i was thinking about which combo's i use for heavy jigs and which one for lighter ones. and got to thinking that as far as live bait goes, either eels or any other baitfish that i don't have a set rod/reel. it's usually whichever one is convenient. so, what if any rod/reel/line combo are yalls favorite for live bait sight casting to cobia?

the best setup..........

well, the closest spinning rod that is near you,WHILE broke down and waiting for a tow......all you have to do is stand up on the gunnel and get ready to jump in the water to cool off,AND the big cobe will show up......cant remember the exact verbage, but i think something like "FU%$$%$ing COBIA" and the closest spinning reel tossed a jig at it and from then, WELL YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY......GOOD DAY!

that was a great day....never forget it as long as im alive!

Right now my main 2 eel setups are a GUSA 79MAG with Stradic 6000 and a 9' Rainshadow with a 6500B baitrunner. I also like throwing them on conventional gear around the rigs.

IfI build a new one this year it'll probably be a Calstar Grafighter 800M

As far as factory rods go, Challenger makes some good ones as does Star. I like the Star cobia rod a lot but a lot of folks don't like the ceramic guides on them. In the past though I've had customers buy them and remove the stripper and second guide, then put 2 oversized Perfections in place of them. It may sound like a lot of work but those Star Deluxe blanks are bullet-proof.
