Anybody have any experience with how to best breakdown what’s left after mulching? I just mulched about 1.5 acres of small pines and holly. I plan on planting a good part of it for a spring plot for turkeys. Options I’ve heard of are 1: disc it in. 2: rake in piles and burn 3: seed and fertilize over it. What do y’all recommend? Pics for entertainment

I didn’t do it myself but it turned out good. Yea that holly is a nuisance. Super resilient stuff

We had this done to a property we purchased behind us... we are on year two and still getting at the roots that keep popping stuff up. I would agree with raking it together and burning it. The roots that are still producing growth will reveal themselves and you can go after them one by one with a shovel and a chain saw (I have a blade I just sacrifice as my dirt blade). It's gotten to the point we have found most of the persistent roots, and we can now at least mow it without fear of hitting something with the mower blades, but it's been a process. There may be a better way but that's we're doing with ours. In the last picture you can see all the dark scorch marks from all the burn piles. ;)
