I have a 24ft wellcraft center console and I'm in the market to get a kicker/get home motor. I'm not looking to troll just use it an emergency motor. What size should I get? I found a 9.9 johnson...would this do it?

I've got an old22 footer with a cabin, weighs about 3500 lbs bare, I think. I've used both a 25 hp Johnson kicker and a 12 hp Tohatsu, both of which do fine, the 25 better, obviously.

I would think 9.9 would push it home in fair seas, but if there was weather to consider I'd want a little more. Keeping headway and steerage in a little sea might be tough.

Bought my boat with a kicker bracket already on it, then started pricing kickers, then thought about the maintenance, then thought about the off center weight...you get the idea. Decided to just get Sea Tow instead. A 9.9 would do it though. So would an 8 or a 15. Anything else propbably would be a waste from what I have read anyhow.
