Find them churning up the water and cast a littleyozuri crystal minnow into the mix and reel like your tail is on fire. You will not outrun them. We catch about 6 or 8 everytime we need them for bait. they are usually within a couple miles of the pass.
Where are they at this time of year? I've heard that they come in in the winter and leave in the summer, and I've heard the come in close in the summer and move out in the winter. Last I heard they were still way out at the edge FWIW.
In the DR when I was a kid we went fishing a few times and caught themwhile trolling4-5" rapalas in any color.
We caught four yesterday trolling between bottom spots. We were in 100 feet of water. They hit a yo zuri bonito in Orange/Black, yo zuri surface cruiser bright color pattern and a stretch 25 dark color. They do not seem too picky and it looks like they are around now.
