No, only weighed it on the boga (over 11 lbs)and then I let it go and realized I hadn't measured it. I didn't even think about it being one of the biggest snappers caught for KW. I was fishing with 3 others from another team (Tarponweiser) and asked them what they thought the length had been so I could enter a length when I submitted it, they said 30". So I went with that... I got an email saying KW was going to lower the length to 25" since my photo does not show a length, that way first place can still be held by whoever has it. I don't have a problem with that at all. It's my fault for not getting a length... afterthat I was just extactic to get him in the yak!

Id guess 30 inches, but if you tell me how long that yellow float is, I'll tell you within a fraction of an inch how long that fish is

whoops typo, edited

I'd say it's closer to the 25" than 20" but it's a beautiful healthy fish.

I'll edit mine too but still closer to 25" than 30".

Well Linda it is a great fish! Gotta keep that measure board handy since you are going to be breaking all my records this summer while Im in Miami! It is a rule that needs to be enforced as alot of the KW records are just guesstimates. I think it is a requirement to have a picture verifying the length to be a new record. The only exception is Tarpon Billfish and Sharks. Can you imagine if you had a 30" trout verified on a board and someone put up 31 that was never actually measured. I think if the records are going to have any validity in the future they are doing the right thing. Congrats on a great fish again.

Too funny!A 30" snapper would be >20lbs I believe. Heck of a fish from a yak on a beautiful day.

I wanted to make sure everyone knew the funny part was to CL on the 2,3 thing... not bashing but things get out of hand here sometimes.

Did a little 'cypherin'

Just multiply the length of that yellow float by 4.19 should put you in the ball park within half an inch or so.

So if that is a 6 inch float, that is a 25 inch snapper.

Tada!

choppedliver (4/4/2010)Where do you guys fish that you are always catching grouper, sails, snapper, etc, so close to shore?
Right off the beaches. My sails and that snapper were caught off Panama City Beach
