I will be down there with my wife and kids during the Thanksgiving weekend and hope to do some bay/flats fishing from a canoe. I've fished there before, but only during the summer. Should I go to the same places that were recommended then, or do the fish move elsewhere? Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated. On at least one day I'll have my 11 year old son with me who is much more into "catching" than "fishing" if you know what I mean...

Now Thom, Westbay is in Bay co., you need to get us a little closer to where you wanna fish.

During Thanksgiving,Burnt Mill Creek and west of the Westbay ramp in the ICW should be good.

Any suggestions for lures/bait? I'm guessing we'll be fishing deeper water? I've never fished rivers in colder weather.

Be careful in the ICW if your gonna be on a canoe, big sport fisher's run thru there. We use curly tail grubs & DOA shrimp. Good luck.:thumbsup:

Do you fish the shoreline or deep holes? I don't have any type of depth finder. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

There are usually holes where there are bends in the creek. You can also troll from the canoe using a jighead and some type of paddle tail or curly tail plastic. This is a good way to locate fish and may be less boring for your son.
