i spent my weekend duck hunting with someone that knows his stuff. he scouts harder than he hunts. needless to say, i shot some birds in the delta. needless to say i am hooked.well, that means that i have to get some chest waders because he gets to an area and walks into the spot. is there a best kind or will the ones form academy work.

You need to bite the bullet and purchase some that are neoprene, because if you go under with regular waders there is a high possibility you won't come back up. I know from experience I've duck hunted in waders for 35 years and have had a few close calls, and have been bailed out a couple times.

I also highly recommend the neoprene models. I have had a few close calls while duck hunting in NC and if I would have been in rubber waders I don't think I would be posting this today. They are comfortable, warm, and safer then regular waders.
