If you want something, you should be prepared to fight for it. </DIV>
Today, you can take two specific actions.
First, we have a concern that the Gulf Council is not hearing the 6 million Gulf recreational anglers when we say NO SECTOR SEPARATION. Frankly, a recreational angler should have the right to chose how they fish, be it a private boat, a hired boat with a licensed captain or from shore. There is a small grouper of Charter captains who think they are entitled to all the fish that their recreational angler paying customers caught. This group is being backed by Environmental Defense in order to bring catch shares to the recreaitonal fishery. They must be stopped. </DIV>
What to do? Send a short email to the Council TODAY (they will vote tomorrow morning on moving forward with this unconstitutional concept). Email to [email protected]

Here is all you need to say (OK to put more in if you like): </DIV>
Dear Gulf Council- </DIV>My name is___________. I am a (recreational angler, charter captain or commercial fisherman) and I am OPPOSED to any idea that gives a boat captain the right to MY ACCESS to the fishery.
Again, I OPPOSE SECTOR SEPARATION. I also OPPOSE any concept of recreational catch shares.

Thank you,

Your Name </DIV>

Second, there is a petition online that you should sign. The petition is a concerted effort lead by the Central Florida Offshore Anglers, the Halifax Sportfishing Club, the Sebastian Inlet Sportfishing Association and the Florida Sport Fishing Association. It is about the South Atlantic Red Snapper closure. Go to http://www.deep-blue-sea.org:8080/examples/servlet/petition </DIV>
The FRA will be setting up some open letters to congress that you will all be able to sign. Watch for these open letters in an FRA Call To Action emaillater this week. Signing these letters will help us in Washington, DC. The FRA is sending a team of people to DC the week of Feb 22nd. All of your signatures will be delivered to each congressional representative.

Game on or game over. What's it going to be?

It appeared to me that the petition was for the Atlantic closure of red snapper fishing. I signed either way. Fishing is Fishing in my book. Just wanted everyone to be aware that signing the petition has nothing to do with the sector seperation

Feeling Wright the Sector Separation was in the first part of the notice with email address to send your letter to. Second part of notice was on the Atlantic closure. I should have broke the notice down into two parts. Sorry.
