Took the wife to Vortex this morning so she could brush up on her skills. The water was warmer than the air at 8am, but no complaints. After the initial plunge the water felt great. Vis was 40+ feet the LARGE crawfish, black carp, shellcracker were everywhere. NERF should make a sponge spear gun, that would be a lot of fun chasing those fish in there. After kicking around for 45 min we were both down to 600 psi and made our way back to the dock.

Thought about going to Pickens for a second dive but would not have made high tide in time. Any reports from Pickens today? We are planning to dive it tomorrow. Looking at the tide chart, is 0930 the best time to be in the water tomorrow?

Had to look up neap tide, i've seen it posted a couple times but never new what it meant. So with a neap tide, is the tide so weak that doesn't matter what time of day you dive? I want to make sure I get this right, really don't want to hear the wife b*&*() at me. Also, I got the tide information fom this chart, did I read it wrong? It says that high tide is at 0910 tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your help.

MBT... will ya'll be out there tomorrow with a class? From what I read, High tide is at 0942 in the morning. But with it being a neap tide, I don't think the bay will get a good flush of gulf water. So the viz will probably be next to nothing. But I would still try to make it as close to high tide as possible. The current will not be as bad, but it will still be significant for diving if it's not 1 hour before high tide.
