Standard Horizon HX100

The HX100 handheld VHF is great for all your kayak communication and safety needs. They come as a pair--you get TWO! They are waterproof, float and are submersible to three feet for 30 minutes. It has selectable 2.5 and 1 watt transmission power. Easy to read LED display, backlit keypad, loud audio.

You’ll also have access to the Coast Guard, marine traffic and NOAA weather channels. You can even set weather channel alerts to get advanced warning of impending dangerous conditions. Use the handy belt to attach the radio to your PFD.

The pair of radios comes with 110v AC chargers and a dual charging cradle to recharge both at the same time.

Perfect size for a kayak and great to have a backup or to share with your fishing buddy to stay in contact.

Three year warranty.

About $150 or less for both.

ICOM M24. So far its fine, but if it gets even a little bit wet, it'll be flashing red until you rinse it with freshwater and let it dry. I've had it out for several days of fishing and haven't needed to charge it yet.
