Ran across this video with testing effects of putting twists in a ratchet strap and thought some here may find the information interesting.

No twist 9433lb breaking point
1 twist 9645lb breaking point
4 twists 9270lb breaking point
10 twists 7698lb breaking point
1 knot 3593lb breaking point
wet strap 8847lb breaking point

i would have thought that the twists made it stronger. and i have one of those 1000lb from walmart that has a knot in it.
i don't think i have ever put it under that much stress even haling lumber. these scenarios may never occur under normal working conditions.

Interesting. I have always been anal about keeping twist out of the strap, guess I'll be going with the 1 twist from now on.

I always put one twist in my Bimini top straps to keep the buzzing down, like stated in the video

If you want custom straps or in stock straps, the best place to go is StrapWorks.com. I use their custom cambuckle straps and doubleD straps for whitewater rafting. Instead of ratchet straps, I use cambuckles for most purposes. So much easier.
