I was gonna suggest south Palafox but then I read your post.:)
Stop by your local tackle shop and buy a hotspots chart, and have a good talk with the people in the shop. Most will give you good advice. You can also use the search function on this site and find all the advice you could ever use.

Good luck
Steve
I'd start out around the Mass. Just dont run into it !
Go threw this site and find public numbers. There are plenty out of pensacola within 10 miles.
There is a guy in a boat to the east of pensacola pass. Blue bait boat. He sells live cigar minnows. He is out there when the water warms up later in spring.
Or you can catch pinfish.
Don't go offshore fishing without live bait.
The guys on here will lead you In The direction of tips and help if you ask.

Make sure to take pictures of all your big fish, or it never happened.

Yes, pay careful attention to the species.
You will need a newer decent bottom machine and a good gps.
No problem showin the big boys

Thanks for the heads up guys
The first place I went after I bought my boat was the tex edwards...funny thing is that I've caught big red snapper, mingos, and even a 34" Cobia off the bottom my last trip (November 2014). You don't have to fish way offshore or at private numbers to have fun. Good luck and enjoy the new boat!
