I live in Atlanta but have a boat at Perdido Key and have been fishing out of Pensacola Pass for the last few years. One thing I have never really done is any inshore fishing and wanted to try it out this Memorial Day weekend. Can someone help me with the best setup and bait for trout and flounder and where I can find them this time of year? I know the trout come up on the beds in the summer but am not sure where to find thim in May. Any expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Trout, Reds & flounder can be caught early am on the grass beds near Johnson's beach north side of sound, or Big lagoon south side of sound. Being you have a boat these will be easy areas to access & you should find some fish early am or late evening.

A good set up for Trout is a popping cork, with about 24-30" of line below with a #4 hook if using live shrimp or pin fish. You can use this same setup without live shrimp & using a jighead 1/8oz or 1/4oz size w/ gulp shrimp ( new penny or natural ) depending on the currents and/or winds.

Redfish can be caught the same way as listed above as well, if you dont catch'em that way. Try going w/o the popping cork, use a split shot weight 24-30" above the #4 hook with live shrimp, or baby mullet, bull minnows. Red fish magic's are also hot bait for not using live bait...You can also throw jigs in a moving water current in deeper water areas to catch them.

Flounder can be caught using anything mentioned above, you will just want to use a weight to make sure you can be near the bottom or bounce jigs off the bottom..

Good Luck:)
