Just a thought, that is fairly stiff mono in the first place, even though with 15# it should not be an issue. Buy some Reel Magic and spray the line down really well while on the reel. I use it on any of my reels with mono, and it works quite well.

Not sure about the spinning reels but if you wind line onto a baitcaster opposite to the direction it was spooled it will fight you constantly.

It happens with both.
