I had guy tell me there were some legal triggers in the bay, so I hit my bay spots yesterday with a cup full of squid and a double-drop chicken rig. First drop was gobbled up by a huge sail cat, second drop a small red snapper, then the third drop I caught a fish on each hook. One was a red snapper and the other was... a 16" trigger fish! Then, almost on cue, flipper shows up. And I don't mean 1 dolphin, but like 5 or 6 of them sounding on the structure less than 10 yards from my kayak. Needless to say that killed the bite for a few minutes. I hit a few other spots and caught red snapper on almost every drop, but no more triggers. Final tally was 31 red snapper, 3 sail cats, 1 ruby red lip, and 1 delicious trigger.

Can't be true. Trigger are becoming extinct like red snapper.

Nice catch. Our bay has some great fishing if you know where to find them. Snapper, grouper, etc...
