On any small private spot that I dive (coop, pyramid), triggers are the main species all over these spots. They can rival the snapper numbers sometimes. I prefer a steel shaft for them.

Years ago, we would hardly ever find a legal trigger on the close in public spots. Now I see plenty usually. They definately don't use their own eyes to see what's underwater.

Most of my trigger spots are in Alabama and I have zero problems getting numbers or size. I make sure we don't hit the same spot more than 2 times a yr though and it seems to be good management. My wife caught 3 over 10lbs on one trip this yr along with a ton over 7lbs.
