Then the carpet can't really dry for days or so because the wood is still wet. Which doesn't help aluminum hulls.

On a Alum hull....You for sure want slicks....I can't tell you how many alum Pontoon boats I use to see Doug & Joe welding up the hulls when they worked @ Blue Coral. The wet and Salt just sit in contact with the alum. and corrode it.

Wonder if you could take a heat gun and just melt the wax on the carpet.

Where ya gonna plug it in when the boat is off at the ramp?

Great advice...on the wax. I have never heard that, but will apply next time I get the boat off the trailer. Hopefully, getting to replace the carpet this season.

Use treated lumber for the bunks.

I recently cut starboard and attached it to my wood bunks with stainless screws counter sunk, this was for a 15ft aluminum boat but it is super slick, like slide around when leaned in slick. I now keep the bow hook on till I get in the water. It does load easy though.

This is what Im trying fix. Brackets are to short and it’s hard to load with just the back bunks. These are 8” brackets. I’m gonna make the boards 12” longer and put 10” brackets on it.

Gonna lower my back bunks a couple inches also so I don’t have to back in so far.

Man the wax was a great tip. I appreciate it.

I built my bunks and waxed them before installing them on the trailer. Boat slips on so easy. Very minimum throttle needed. Just slips right up the trailer into place. I’ll never load without wax again.
