Im planning on going oyt to the edge this weekend. Can someone tell me if when you get to the edge you need numbers to catch bottom fish like groupers etc and what is the best way to fish out there. Any suggestions are appreciated. Or if anyone has some numbers they are willing to share i would highly appreciate that as well.

No. But it helps.
A good idea is to troll around some and mark a few likely spots. Then change tactivpcs and drop some bottom rigs while power drifting. Delete the ones that yield nothing, keep the ones that do.
It is a big area and fish move sometimes. So staying mobile is usually good.
But some people do anchor.
