So as many of you know I bought what was only my second boat last year, and knowing nothing about boats (I know I am a dumbass ), bought her and fished her. Had heard VRO pumps for Johnsons were notorious about failing but fished her anyway, noticed the cowl would get hot and she used little oil at all, and STILL FISHED HER. Long story short blew the motor. Got many estimates and lot's of ideas / advice from people and mechanics and chose Shane with Livingston Marine. Now not taking anything away from Dave at Davlor, in fact I found him to be a great guy and he may still get some of my business down the road. Shane has completely gone thru my 50hp motor, new rings pistons and so on, we bypassed the VRO pump where I will mix my own gas now, and we added an electric fuel pump so no more pumping that ruber ball to get pressure, turn the key on for 3 seconds and fire her up. He will break her in on Sat. and I will go pick her up Sunday. Shane was a PLEASURE to deal with and there were NO HIDDEN COSTS, he did what he said and charged what he said. There is also a 3 year warranty on all work he did. THANKS SHANE !!!!!!!!!

Well got her back this past Sunday, but it was too nasty to take her out for a test run. So I have just been charging batteries, cleaning her and will take her out for a test run Friday, wasn't even planning on taking a fishing pole but I can't resist, so it will be test drive / FISHING. Will let you all know how she does, but I can say that I am pleased with the work so far, she fires right up with the electric fuel pump, no more ball pumping for me !
