Anyone ever tested any of this so called ethanol free gas or are we just taking the stations word for it? Might buy me a test kit for shits and giggles. The clerk inside doesnt know what the tanker is putting in the tank and the owner just raises the price 50 cents over regular.... I'll bet they don't test either.... interesting concept!!

you do not need to buy a tester.
Just get a test tube or some other slim bottle.
Draw a magic marker line around it about 1/3 up and fill with water to that line.
Then add gasoline, about twice as much as you did water.
Shake well and let settle.
If what looks like water is now more than you put in, there is ethanol in your gas.

Kenny, thats what I'm saying.....who knows. There is no government standard that tested, just some station owner opening up a pump, putting up a sign and raising the price. Since car gas turn over is faster than non ethanol, that gas may be better if its ethanol in the first place!! A station owner is just gonna say that they paid for non ethanol. I guess the true test would be a marina....... Any whoooo before I buy any more non ethanol or marine gas as its now called Im gonna be running a test on it. I'll go buy a gallon first. I normally purchase 75-100 gallons and I'd hate to pay those prices for ethanol.
Bio diesel is just as bad. I quit using that. Plus the fuel milage really sux.
Guess maybe this could be my retirement job job or at least something to do.

I test every boat i work on,, you would not believe the people that say they burn ethanol free gas only to find out they have 15% in their tank..
What would be the cost to drain and filter out the last 40 gallons of an 80 gallon tank? Or is this something I could do with a filter of some type? I just drianed the fuel water separator after burning about 20 gallons and about 1/3 looked like water. Maybe the fuel water separator is doing it's job but I'm leary of that much.
