Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice/info I've picked up from this forum. My group and I were down about a month ago and caught 2 blacktips and 2 bull reds. I'd post picks if I could figure out how.

Now, I'm trying to get some gear updated without having to mortgage the house. Found some telescopic rods online that are rated for decent casting weights (6-8 oz). Has anyone tried the newer telescopic rods and what are your thoughts on them? Thanks.

For example, here's a Shimano with wrapped guides that is 13 1/2 foot and rated for a casting weight of about 7 oz.

(I know these Chinese sites are sketchy, but I think with a little investigation, they might could be found elsewhere.)
