Sunday afternoon, West of Navarre Beach / Opal Beach: Surf Conditions: Clear and Calm. Patches of light grass are along the entire surf line, but manageable for fishing. The grass tends to stay inside the wave breaks out to about fifty feet from the wet sand line. Casting over the grass is really not an issue and it doesn't drag the line down or stay on when line is retrieved. Today, not expecting any bites, we were just using the dreaded leftover frozen shrimp from Springtime trips pass. Fish landed this trip between 2:00 PM to 3:15: One beautiful almost three foot shark, unknown type, on a 'Kingfish' rig I buy from Half Hitch in Navarre as my best pompano rig. The shark was released mad but unharmed. As we were bringing in lines to leave, my lady landed a 16 inch-ish ladyfish. After briefly reviving Ms. Skipjack, she quickly swam away, the fish, not my lady. We loaded up chatting about the September pompano migration that's coming soon. Until then..
