Ok....So i figured out how to get to the stuff behind my seat while out on the water.....sling my legs over the side and sit sideways.

I have a OK Trident 13 and thinking about installing a fishfinder. The designated spot for it is pretty far forward. Its quite the balancing act trying to transition from sitting to kneeling and leaning forward even in calm water. I don't think working the buttons with my toes is going to work out....albiet pretty funny to watch I bet. I guess I could mount is on a ram mount on the rod pod.

I am also thinking about mounting a fish bag on the front. Hefting a big fish onboard and then getting it into a fishbag seems like a pretty good odds to flip the kayak over.

Anybody have any techniques or better ways to do this?

Just go play with the kayak man. I had toe pushable buttons on my mind when I was shopping for a ff. It only has four big buttons, and is easily worked with feet. The fish bag thing...like I said go play with it a bit, in the water. If you want to keep it up front, you need to have a good way to get up there. There's a way, you just need to get comfortable with the yak. Learn it's limitations with stability vs your balance. Put it in the water and crawl all over it. What if you get a hook caught on the bow, cut your line or go get it? Knowing what you can, and can't do, will come in real handy when shit happens. If your not comfortable going to the front hatch, you shouldn't put anything in/on there you will need to get to often. I think behind the seat would be a better option anyways, like you said, just turn sideways to get to it.

OK Trident 13

Just straddle your legs over the sides for balance and scoot forward to operate the FF. I just installed a Humminbird 385ci under the Sonar Shield, so I'm in the same situation. If you can keep the Rod Pod clutter free, you can scoot forward on top of it without breaking it. My Trident 15 is a little longer, so it's possible. I have a large Precision Pak fish bag and attach it to the bow lines with the three hooks on each side of the bag and it stays put. The bag is long enough for a King or three. It holds a 20-30lb bag of ice. You can use the fish bag as your drink cooler as well. Practice all of this before you do your surf launch and you'll stay upright.
