I should've started this around Halloween, so lets hear some stories! Im sure everyone's heard the footsteps behind them, when they walk into or out of the deer stand in the dark
Never had anything unexplainable happen. but the worse I've been scared was probably this past Monday. Was walking out of the woods way after dark, was looking at some deer poop on the ground and turned my head and there was a deer standing maybe 20 yards away when my light hit its eyes I had a good jump scare

I have several stories from one of my old work places. I was working on a machine that strapped bundles of news papers that came off the press. I had any empty bottle of water sitting on top of the machine about 7 feet up. Im sure the vibrations made the bottle fall and it fell straight down like an arrow and it landed straight up on the cap, it never bounced or anything. Another time I was working in the area and a bunch of papers fell off a conveyer belt. I squatted down to pick them up and I knew my a$$ crack was hanging out and I felt 3 tugs on my shirt. I jumped up real quick and spun around and nobody was there

Way back, when I was 15 (WAY BACK) I climbed a rickety tree stand early in the morning. Way before light. As day broke, an owl had landed or roosted about 2 feet over my head. It WHOOHOOOOOd at first light and I about died right there. My camo pants were a bit brown after that.

When I was 16 or 17 I was on an afternoon hunt in a swamp during bow season. At dark I climbed down and as soon as I got back to the road I walked in on, something big across the road from me jumped up but didn't run off. For the entire several hundred yards walk back to the truck, whatever it was followed me. I would take a few steps and I would hear it walking no more than 10 yards off the road next to me. I would stop and it would stop. The brush was so thick that I couldn't ever see what it was. Needless to say I had an arrow knocked the whole time and I probably set a record for how fast I got back to the truck.

I was 16, hunting by myself and had a long walk up a ridge road in the dark to get back to the truck. I was walking slowly with the rifle ready. I stepped on a small twig that snapped. Apparently a gobbler had roosted about 10' above me. I didnt see him and he didnt see me but boy when that twig snapped the devil himself went flying through the woods as he pinballed off every tree. If you dont know, turkeys are bad fliers and loud as all get out in the dark and when spooked. I screamed and cussed for a few minutes until I regained my composure.

Secondly, our old house was haunted by a little girl. She was not malicious or out to scare us, I would just see her from time to time in a room or down the hallway. Some people think I am nuts and others believe it. But hey it is what it is.

have a cousin in north alabama that had no luck deer hunting so he took a short cut home down an old logging road. he noticed a doe standing in a field and took a shot from his truck and down she went. he couldn't find a bullet hole but drug her to his truck he left running in the road .as he loaded her into the back and shoved her rear end past the tail gate she lifted her head , took a look at him and kicked him right between the eyes . he woke up after dark laying in the road with the truck still idling and the deer was gone . still has a scare from the huff .

I was fishing in the pond behind my house at night. I had a light on my head. I heard a little rustling noise to my right. I looked down and there was an armadillo 6 inches from my leg. He looked up at the same time I looked down.

I had no idea an armadillo could jump 4 feet in the air. I couldn't believe I could jump almost as high.

Back in the winter of 2001 my youngest son and I were on our way from Boise,Idaho to Medford,Oregon. We had taken a car trailer to his old place in Boise in order to haul his non-running Jeep to his new place in Medford. We hit an area of heavy snow in the southern Cascades around 2:00 a.m.It took 45 minutes or so to get down the mountain. We had,of course been drinking coffee to stay alert.
About 25 miles west of the pass it became obvious that the last few quarts of coffee had to be drained. We stopped at a wide spot in the road near a summer tourist haunt, deserted in winter. There is a gas station and ice cream joint on the west side of the road, closed this time of year, and no town or settlement within 30 miles. This is tall timber country, and unsettled.Across the road is a small parking area for the ice cream joint. It is paved and about 200 ft.wide and 80 ft.deep.I pulled in and as I stepped out with .45 on hip,it occurred to me in a flash that grabbing the 590 Mossy would be good.
As we walked to the far end of the area to be well off the road, the hair on my arms and the back of my neck stood on end.The area directly
to our front was open with a depth of 50 yards and a width of 100 yards. The night was clear and cold,8-10 inches of snow on the ground, and with a moon almost full,so we could see quite well. While standing and taking a leak, with son about 15 ft.to my right I saw,as if springing from the earth in front of us across the open area 10 or 12 creatures moving RAPIDLY back and forth in sort of a Thatch weave pattern. These things, not human men, were close to 7 ft.tall, thin, bipedal with long arms, medium length gray fur, and damned fast on their feet.I brought the shotgun up and slid the safety off,as son was drawing his .45.
I don't know if I can adequately explain the overwhelming feeling of menace, but here goes.I had been operating on pure instinct since I had stepped from the pickup, the rotten feeling hit me a split second before the things arrived, the feeling?,instinct?, was that we were prey, and subject to a very bad death, and to be slaughtered and eaten, not a logical process, gut feeling and massively overwhelming.
As they were moving about in front of us,more appeared and mixed among them, all the while running about fast in front of us.Son and I were backing toward the truck,I WOULD NOT present my back to them, and some of them peeled off right and left in an encirclement movement. They were rolling in fast from the sides now,I could smell and feel their presence. We got to the truck loaded on adrenaline and ready to kill,as we both knew we were in grave danger. We piled into the truck, locked doors.I had keys out and ready,as my butt neared the seat, I had the engine lit and trans.in gear and gas pedal mashed in one motion.Adrenaline is great stuff! As we fled, yes fled, something VERY close by let out a ululating scream of rage, and pain.I believe one or more of the group had gotten really close to us in their pursuit and I ran over the foot of one of them, yeah they were that close. We rolled onto the highway and I told son to watch the bed of the pickup as well as the trailer,he already was indexed to the rear with the shotgun. We hauled ass for at least 20 miles before the feeling of grave danger started to abate. The feeling that nailed both of us,as we discussed soon afterward, was one of being prey, and soon to be slaughtered and eaten.I am not easily led,and neither believe or disbelieve all the bigfoot, ghost and werewolf stuff,in fact I am skeptical. Son was speaking with a coworker about 6 months later who had grown up in Prospect,Oregon, about 30 moles south of Union Creek where the incident took place. He asked Jake if he had ever heard of any strange goings-on in the area.Jake went ashy white and pretty much retold the above tale.He says to avoid the place at night.A family friend,a 25 yr.retired cop not given to flights of fancy and an excellent observer, had a tale very similar from a year before.I told my wife of this event of course, she looked at me at the beginning as though I had developed a 3rd eyeball in the center of my forehead. That was from shock, she did believe me,but did not wish to hear any details. She said the tale gave her chills.Me too,as I write this, hair on back of neck and forearms is sticking up.
I have NOT gone back to explore, and would not without a large group of shotgun and flamethrower equipped men with me.
Son and I are both sane, sober persons, and not taken to hysteria. We were wide,VERY wide awake as things transpired. We saw and smelled what was there. As a sidebar neither of us heard footfalls from the creatures. They were silent until i hurt one as we were getting the Hell out of there.
To my knowledge, and I have researched, there is nothing that matches these creatures, unless one considers old legends and folk tales of were creatures. To conclude,I have to fall back on Elmer Keiths famous line,"Hell,I was there"

I was scouting before turkey season with my kid. Walking down an old logging road and i heard a low growl about 10 yards back in thick brush just off to one side. Had my pistol with me ,but i didn't stick around to find out what it was. Definitely didn't sound like a dog. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up for sure.

Now this ain't no bullshit.. A few decades ago I used to love to camp on a lake by myself and run trotlines during the night. My favorite camping place was where an old logging road ran through some woods down to the water and I could slide my canoe into the lake. Anyway, I had set my trotlines, had my supper, and a few beers. Then I ran my lines about ten or eleven o'clock to take off the catfish that were on them and put new bait where needed. .Another beer or two and i crawled into my little two man pup tent, whose only real purpose was to keep mosquitoes off of me. At some point I started hearing thrashing and growling out in the woods, not very far at all from my camp. I got out of the tent and tried to see what was happening, but no luck. Back then flashlights were not what they are now, and that particular night my lights were not very bright after running the trotlines. I could not see anything even though the thrashing and growling was still happening. I was concerned that some poor critter had got tangled up in some fishing gear that I left in my canoe, so I walked the hundred feet so so down to the water to check. Nope, my gear was undisturbed.I went back to my tent and tried to go back to sleep. but whatever was out there made a complete circle around my tent over about the next two or three hours. I did not sleep much that night with all the growling and thrashing in the undergrowth, and even after about forty years I still wonder what was gong on. My best guess was mating bobcats. Second best guess: manitous!

Years ago me and a friend were in a lease in Walton county. A club member let us park a trailer on his land to stay in during the season. One night we wanted some rabbits to fry so I walked around a nearby field with my 410 after dark. I shot a couple and while backing up to retreive one in the dark I bumped into a deer decoy. I hadn't seen it in the dark and for a second I thought I was going to be attacked by a buck. Really scared me.

Me and my four teenagers lived in the old Eglin Capehart base housing in the 90s for a short time; these units were built in the late 50s, early 60s. The kids claimed the house was haunted in that they saw strange moving shadows in the house and heard weird noises - I didn't pay mind to any of it - them houses were old.

We later found out that the previous tenants died from a murder/suicide. Apparently some GI and his wife were going through divorce, reconciled, and it then fell apart. He killed the wife, then went over to the playground across the street and shot himself (not sure if he killed the wife in the house).

Anyway, after hearing that, WE ALL SAW weird shadows and heard weird noises. LOL

I have had squirrels jump on my leg while in a tree stand, had owls and hawks land or go over my head within 3 feet, but this probably scared me the most. I was deer hunting on some bottom land that had quite a few trees on it. I had gotten up in my tree stand about an hour before sunrise. Still very dark, I had heard a few noises in the trees around me, which I figured were small birds or squirrels coming alive. All of a sudden as I was dozing a bit, waiting for some daylight, it sounded like every tree around me had something going crazy whacking, hitting and shaking the branches noisily. I really thought something huge was about to get me. I had no idea what was happening until I caught a glimpse of a Turkey on the ground running, but at least then I knew what had happened. I had climbed into a flock of roosting turkeys. About an hour later I saw them single file past me. 63. Largest flock I have ever seen.

Firm believer in ghosts/spirits/aliens....had experiences with em all. All equally weird but the main one that sticks in my mind was when I was in school I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I thought my bro grabbed the door and started shaking the crap outta it. I yelled at him to stop and he wouldn't.....I grabbed the door and opened it only to look down it the thick carpet of my mom and dads room to see foot prints walking away as it happened!!! My bro had already left fer school...Same house I woke up one night and saw a huge shadow in my room just looming over me....It disappeared as quickly as it appeared!!!! Never heard if anyone died in our house prior to us living there but who knows........
