I have a friend wanting to come visit and do some offshore fishing out of pensacola. When would be the best time this spring to tell him to come so that the fish are really starting to hit? He is thinking about April or May before it gets too hot. Thanks for your input as I really want him to have a great trip. I'm also open to suggestions for charters.

End of May after the spring bloom seems to be the best time of year for bait to show back up along the beaches and that is when the fish start biting....

I'll echo the above, mid May and into June and pretty much everything is on the table bite wise. Only exception really is grouper fishing because gag grouper doesn't open until July 1st. Something else to keep in mind for bottom fishing is Amberjack season closes in June and July.
