'Sponge' crab reports

I know it is illegal to keep them in FL, just curious if any of saw (or heard reliable reports of) ANY sponge crabs being caught near the beaches or anywhere else for that matter this past summer.

They were AWOL over here in AL this summer :blink:

IF there were NO 'sponge crabs' in the surf laying eggs this summer there may not be ANY crabs at all in a couple of years.

Usually the surf line is full of tiny baby crabs (megalops) in September,
but again NONE have been observed.
