Man....first trip on the Choctaw this morning after being away for weeks was a real bummer....catching wise! Buddy and I launched at the crack of day at
Cedar Log and went down river toward Morrison Springs. The water was so low we had to be really careful avoiding the drop off. Necessary to wade and manhandle the boat off the trailer.
Downstream we went in search of catfish. Left the bream gear at home. We marked some good areas with fish but the bite was not there. Maybe they fed all night on the full moon.

We used shrimp, stink bait, bream cut bait, fish guts, chicken liver, and earthworms...all to no avail. Ended up with three small cats.
Coming in the river had risen a few inches and this really helped getting the boat on the trailer, but it will be dropping out again in a couple days.

Another friend fished a couple of hours this morning out of Caryville and reported the same bite situation.

Hope next week there will be an improvement.

A little update

Our two regular club bream guys had a slow day on the Choctawhatchee yesterday. They fished hard, got caught in a big rain, and came home with only 13 decent eaters. They fished out of Black Creek Lodge.
If the weather is decent tomorrow I will be on the river with one of them.
