i picked up a complete 77 70 e-rude and have heard nothing but good things about these motors ever since. i bought it knowing it had to be rebuilt. on tearing it down we discovered the rod bearings on the middle cyl. had given up long ago and had screwed up the rod journal on the crank pretty good. is it possible to repair this type of damage, ive heard of people doing camshafts and things like that by welding to it then grinding it to spec. this was supposed to be a cheap project not an expensive boat anchor!! help me!!

i am not familiar with that motor. does it have bearings on the rod @ the crank or just rod on crank? if it is the later i would just have the crank turned and buy another rod. you can prob. get cheap after-market. i would call wayne @ burkes machine shop. 433-6558
