Hey guys. I am planning on coming down and going out next week and want to do some offshore fishing. The boat we are going in as a 20 footer, so we are trying to catch a day where the seas are pretty calm. We can probably deal with 2's or so, but much more than that and it won't be as enjoyable. I know it is always a gamble, even with the marine forecasts, but are there any of you experienced guys out there willing to help me out and give me your best 4 day windowto fish next week(13-20). I am hoping that the 4 day window will give me a decent shot at getting a good day. Tight lines! Chris:toast

Chris, We cant even get the land weather 7-10 days out to about a 50/50 shot. And you want a wave forecast that far out this time of year. Dont trust em if they say they can do it. Summertime is one thing but this time of year, forget it. Your best bet is to go when you can and hope for the best.

That's kinda what I figured, but I thought I would throw it out there. I am looking at the extended weather forcast and see 5 or 6 days it is not calling for rain. I guess planning 4 days into that might give me a little better odds, since I would take a choppy dry over the alternative. LOL

Here's another good site. They includethe weather synopsis that is affecting the wave action at the beginning of the report. Good luck, the weather is finally warming up so might have some good days to fish! The good thing is you're not coming down this week, it looks to be pretty rough out there this week!

The Wavecast on Florida Offshore is pretty good too.

You'll have to register (it's free), but I think they are as good or better than anyone else.

Another good place to check (once you're in-town) is the Orange Beach Buoy. This will give you real time wave height and period as well as wind mph and direction info. It's 12 miles south of the Perdido Pass.

anyone using noaa / nws is setting themselves up for disappointment! You need to be using REEFCAST! The Ensemble will help tell you whether a forecast is good or changing...

I use several forecast services including REEFCAST. They are all subject to errors, especially that far out. I posted both the NWS and Reefcast forecasts for the same area and they both seem to be fairly close.
