I just picked up mine today from Lee's Meat Market in Milton but haven't tried it yet. My mother suggested Lee's after her neighbor gave her some summer sausage he had processed there and loved it. If you would like a sample of the processed deer I had done, I'll be happy to share some before you decide. I have hamburger, sausage, and steaks if you wouldtosample.
Search Results

Great price no doubt...I de-boned and trimmed all gristle offto ensure no bone frag would come back in my burger meat and my steaks would be the best...Learned this many years ago from a bad experience. It was three dear this time and less the 2 freezer bags I gave to friends before delivering to Lee's, my bill was only $52.00 for a mix described above...

I have tried all the above....that being said, Lee's was my least favorite...Carl's is good and has a good selection and prices(check out their website: http://carlspremiumdeerprocessing.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-home.cgi?d=carls-premium-deer-processing) what I liked about Carl's is they weigh your meat in and give you the cost of processing right up front! Now then, Farm Fresh meats in Robertsdale - if you are just getting plain smoked link sausage, they have the best tastingIMHO. Also like to say that all the mentioned are good folks! If you go to Carl's - you got to give their Jalapeno cheese sausage a shot - HYCO (Tony) gave me a pack to try and it is awesome! Just keep in mind that thewre is a 10lb minimum for each different types of sausage you want - and if I remember correctly, this goes for all 3 places. GOOD LUCK! :usaflag

jjam I am not bashing or dethroning but your meat gets mixed with everyone elses who ordered the same thing. I have never taken mine to get it done, with all the new seasonings and gadgets on the market I prefer to do my own. Not to mention I can't afford it. If I do 3 deer a year how much would it cost me There? I do three a year for under $50...........Oh not to mention Some friends and I have found the Bratworst seasoning packets...... HOLY CRAP, I hope to get one more to make it in just bratts! Anyway Lee's has been around a while. I am unsure who owns it now but in Highschool I was friends with Mr. holland's son and helped out a couple times, you can hardly see through the front window for the coolers so undoubtedly there are alot of people who use them. Good luck with your search for sausage makers!

Missed the part where you had three this time, how many pounds did u get back, roughly? do you think you gotall you droped off, back? Do they cut steaks and everything for you? Might b worht checking in to?I can barelly fit 3 in my freezer, I wined up with about 30lbs of burger, 30lbs of maple sausage, 15lbs of breakfast sausage, and 30lbs of bratts, not including the 4 roasts. all from three deer, just shoulders, hams, neck and trimings......... But the best part is sampling to taste:hungry

That's what I was afraid of meat being all mixed together....Well, I've already had my deer processed there and my son said the summer sausage was good but I haven't tried it yet..

Matter of fact I didn't even see the place as I sent my son to drop off the deer.I like the idea of processing myself and used to do just thatwhen I lived in Miss for several years. Became good friends with our local processor and he would allow me to use his processing equipment.

Thanks for your honest input and next year I'll steer clear...

Hey 7mm, are you talking about their jalapeno cheese link sausage, or jalapeno cheese summer sausage? They both sound good, but was wondering which one you tried.

Farm fresh meats has awesome smoked sausage but suggest to bring there after season. I have no proof but swear I get more meat back that way. I have also tried Carl's smoked sausage and it was GREAT. They weigh the meat when you drop it off and have great service there. Enjoy!

Lee's is who I have been using for the last few years and they are great. Great people and great prices.
+1 Great people and prices. I have a couple to unload now. Does anyone know if there open today ( saturday)?
Yeah but call, because this time last year they were behind and wasnt taking deer for about a week.

7mmbrowningman (1/29/2010)I have tried all the above....that being said, Lee's was my least favorite...Carl's is good and has a good selection and prices(check out their website: http://carlspremiumdeerprocessing.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-home.cgi?d=carls-premium-deer-processing) what I liked about Carl's is they weigh your meat in and give you the cost of processing right up front! GOOD LUCK! :usaflag
Hey 7mm, are you talking about their jalapeno cheese link sausage, or jalapeno cheese summer sausage? They both sound good, but was wondering which one you tried.
The link sausage, it is awesome! If I kill another deer this year, I plan on getting some of both though! LOL:usaflag

I just dropped off a nice deer that my buddy killed at the Butcher Shoppe off fairfield and lillian. I have not had any of their meat before but they have really good prices and its close to home. I will let you know how it turns out.

Well, crap - I go to the Butcher Shoppe all the time...in fact need to go there to get some stuff next week - but the owner had told me that he was only gonna do ground and didn't have a big enough smoker to do sausage! I assume he must have done something different or has changed his mind! I am only 4 or 5 miles form him - will certainly be speaking to him if he is there when I go...:usaflag

Thanks for the heads up guys!
