Well, based on forum reports, we thought the kings were still here, so we went to the Palifox pier to find some white trout as bait but there were none around. Headed to the Pass about 10 AM and there were huge numbers of birds and Pelicans in a frenzy along that strip of shallow sand that extends out......and.........about 6 boats surrounding it fishing. So we got exceted thinking there were preditors chasing those bait schools, but to our surprise all 7 of us(7 boats) caught nothing in almost 30 minutes.

We moved on and trolled some stretches and Rapala for reds from the lighthouse out to the buoys. NADA............We were just West of the channel at the level of the Massachusetts and spotted some reds(only 2 birds over the small school) and boated one and lost one.

Encouraged with the warm weather, and our discovery of the bull red school, we trolled all over and scouted the beach about 1 mile off the beach about 5 miles down the beach both East and West!! Nothing. 0 sightings and 0 strikes trolling. Because of the calm water and warm weather, it made being out on the water great, but those bull reds are not as think(not thick at all) compared to some of the recent postings. I will wait about 3 more weeks before trying again. Oh, yes, I think the kings and Spaniards are gone. Isn't the water temperature now about 65-66, and much too cold for these species???

Thanks............AJ

What time were you out there. Last weekend the kings were running early around 5:30-7:30am. After that, the king bite went slack a bit. That was our observation last weekend. We hit our limit last weekend in 30 or so minutes and could have caught even more. So they are there, you just have to find them when they're running.
