i was over in indian pass i think 6 springs ago maybe 2 miles west of the campground around dusk and had a deer the size of a cow just trot out in front of the truck stop look at us and cross the road into the woods i knew they were on st vincent and im sure they can swim but just wondered if anyone else has heard of them on the mainland and can u kill one if deer season is open i dont even hunt but it was the coolest animal sighting of my life he had a monster rack to add

I see no reason why sambar deer wouldn't venture off the island. I know for a fact that the red wolves leave the island because I've seen them on the edge of St. Joe Bay. Rumor has it that the red wolves can be a nuisance sometimes at the state park, getting into the garbage, etc.
