Not sure who on here has heard about this, but this would be devastating to the surrounding estuaries (mostly in Mobile and Mississippi).

They are talking about pumping 50 million gallons of water per day from the Pascagoula River to pump out a salt dome in Richton, MS. The water would then be pumped back into the Mississippi Sound (around east Horn Island). The result would increase the salinity in that area from around 30 to somewhere near 265 ppt.
