Heading out of the pass you need to watch the two rock jetties on the west side, and watch the shallows off of Ft Pickens. You also need to keep an eye the weather... the pass can become a serious washing machine in the right wind/tide/swell situation. I know folks here have there own strategies for leaving or returning to the pass in these conditions, my own preference is to stay to the east, again watching the shallows off the point.

If you decide to cruise around the bay be careful for the jetties on the west side close to the navy base. They're easy to run across especially at night.

No mention of the Massachusetts yet? Heard a few folks have plowed into it before....

If you are going out at night the second red bouy is not lit. It's the only bouy in the pass not lit that I know of.Watch for it.
