Johnathan and John had made plans to fish the oil rigs out of Orange Beach. Even though the conditions and reports weren't optimum we followed with the plan. Left FWB around 10 AM or so and Puttered the Intracoastal to Orange Beach. Arrived at the Orange Beach Marina, fueled the boat, loaded up on Ice and tied up in a slip to await the rest of the crew. We wandered around the marina and talked to folks and heard the reports the various captains. Realizing that the the horse Ballyhoo we had were the wrong size, we needed to get the small ones that were getting hit. A quick trip to J & M remedied that thanks to the marina courtesy car. Got out to Petronis around 3:30 AM. We fished there for an hour or so and decided to move because the sharks were so thick. Only two fish made it to the boat without at least a small bite out of them. We ran to the beer can for the morning bite and there were less fish there than at the last place but the same amount of sharks. Ok so now we run to the Ram Powell and probably just missed the bite. Tried trolling the area for tuna but nothing but feeding Ballyhoo to the small Bonito. It was decided to head inshore and try for some Grouper and AJ. We ended up with two Red Grouper, one Gag Grouper and one AJ in the fish box. One of the Red Grouper would never have gotten pulled out of it's hole with out the boat handling skills of Bill Staff SR. The Man is in his 70's but he can still captain a boat. Still no shortage of sharks feasting on hooked fish on their way to the boat so we headed back to Orange Beach and called it a day.
