They used to be plentiful, but I haven't seen one in 2+ years. I'm sure they're still around, just not as plentiful. But we used to catch them from 3-mile bridge back in the day, mostly on out going tides almost at low tide.

I've only ever caught 1 in the bay...

Palafox wharf at night, between the wharf and port on the east side of the wharf, north end. Use a bobber, no weight, small bait and set the bait up shallow.

Need to ask shrimpers if they are getting any.

Yes years back use to fish the lights around 3MB to stock up on king baits, or hit up shrimpers for a few. 20-25 years ago would get them in the bait castnet trying to get pogies in Terry Bayou in Orange beach

When the king run starts at Palafox wharf, you'll see someone with a dead one hanging under a balloon. Usually gets hit before the live menhaden. Kings at the pier will jump on them too.
