I "syphoned" about 50 gallons out of my boat by getting a fuel pump from Auto .Zone. Added a in line switch for the power and hooked the pump to the fuel filter. Sucked the gas through the fuel filter. That way, I could check to see how much water was in the gas. Was a little slow, but it worked.

Just disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter, and start siphoning. You may need to use a brass "barbed hose splicer" to extend/add an extra length of hose/fuel line to bring it out and thru the drain plug hole. After you are satisfied you have all the water out, install a good water separator between the fuel filter and engine.
