I have a Remington model 700 .243 that has always been a great gun, but for some reason the firing pin has began to stick and now will barely move forward at all. I have cleaned the bolt the best I know how but it still doesn't work and I am afraid to try and take the bolt completely apart. I was hoping one of you might have a suggestion that could help.

Thanks, Mike

Take the bolt out and run at a parts washer hopefully the solvent will clean it out and get the crud out.The other is that rust might be inside the cavity that the firing pin follows.I would not think it would that costly to have a smith fix it.I have used Jays on Garden with a fast turn around and good price

Had firing pin trouble on my hunt in Michigan this past weekend.

I had to pin and spring replaced, on my Weatherby 300 mag.

Had to use a borrowed muzzle loader MONSTER 10 STEPS OUT 15 YARDS AWAY

209 PRIMER (pop) AND NOTHING,10 MINUTES LATER 35 YARDS AWAY HE COMES BACK

I AM THINKING "PLEASE?" (pop). THE DAMN THING SAYS (pop). Last hour of the last day,

and I get a "pop" and NO BANG.

Sorry just blowing off some steam, But firing pin and springs do wear out.
