i thought redfish were not to be bought or sold in the state of florida. yet at joe pattis they have fish for sale advertised as wild caught redfish. can some one explain this to me ? thanks

It's redfish and I'm guessing that it is caught in the wild from some farm in Asia.

a buddy of mine lives in birmingham and has told me about the "redfish" he regularly eats at a restaurant up there. i have told him that couldnt be but who knows after hearing this.

There was a restaraunt in Milton that used to advertise Redfish on their menu......I always thought it was odd.

Smokey J's in milton sells redfish whole as well, an employee told me they are farm raised from Louisiana. I was in Gainesville about 1.5 years ago and ate at a restaurant that served farm raised redfish.

Louisiana Lagniappe in Destin usually has a blackened Redfish entree. They have had it for a couple of years now, it is very good.

I think you should raise your own tilapia! I was at a restraunt in lauderdale recently, and tilapia was only $2 cheaper than mahi!!

They have game fish status in FL, but not everywhere so they can sell it here if caught out of state. I think it actually comes from Louisiana if I recall correctly.

Its not that new. I have been in there regularly throughout the fall and winter and they pretty much always have them
