Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was detected at background concentrations in one sample collected offshore of Broward County. Additional samples collected throughout Florida this week did not contain K. brevis.

Did not say it was not a big deal. My point was that for the past 6 to 8 months this is the same report I get every week. Yes if it was in the panhandle it would be very important local news and a concern. You do know where Broward County is don't you? I feel sure with the temps up here at the present that we don't have a chance in double hocky sticks to have red tide. But again thanks.

Prettier name than the original Gymnodinium brevis. It is usually worse late summer but it is always lurking out there somewhere. The last fish kill that I remember on the beach made my nose and eyes burn.
