Cranked the boat up in the yard and noticed my check engine light came on along with the beeping alert sound. My owner's manual says the check engine light could be due to a bad cranking battery. So, i disconnected one of my trolling motor batteries that I know is hot and hooked it up in place of the cranking battery. Check engine light still comes on as soon as I rotate the key to the "On" position. In other words, check engine light comes on without even cranking the motor and stays on after I crank it. Any ideas what the issue could be? Thanks for any input

First question would be what kind of motor is it? On my Suzuki's the alarm beep is in sequence with the check engine light which displays a particular code.

And how many blinks of the MIL light (check engine light). That will be your code. If they don't list them in the manual call Gary at Lue's Marine and he will tell you what part you need.
