Nothing scientific, prices vary. Pays to call ahead.

I understand the marina convenience cost but $4.75 is crazy! If you're in OBA and on a trailer, J&M was about $3.25 around Christmas.

Local store here in North Alabama selling 89 Octane non-ethanol for $2.39 right now.

My understanding is they usually set the price from the time they get the fuel? The problem is in the winter it takes forever for them to use it, so if they bought it high it stays high for a loooong time. I have also seen it the opposite, in marina gas actually being cheaper than at the car pump.

OP is correct it is worth shopping around.

If you're in OB, don't forget we carry marine fuel at Sam's too! I believe we are around 2.89 a gallon but I'm not at the store to check.

The Circle K on P-cola on Bayfront usually has pretty good prices but of the 4 times i've been there, the pumps are extremely slow. Flow rate is probably close to 1GPM. Didn't have an hour to burn at the gas station, so I took off. The last time I was there I went in and asked the clerk what the problem was, shrugged her shoulders and basically said dunno and don't care. I'll just pay more in Gulf Breeze.

Thats a lot of 5 gal gas cans! Lol

I use a fuel app on my iPhone to compare local prices, they just don't include "marine fuel" selection. Does anyone else use a gas $ app that does?

Just a quick rundown of "Drive Up" fuel pump prices for "The Island" - Gulf Shores / Orange Beach as of 13.00.00 Jan 27, 2015...

Sams Stop & Shop, Canal Rd, OB- $2.98

J&M, Canal Rd, OB- $2.99

Easy D's, Hwy 59, GS- $2.69

Easy Stop, Hwy 59/ Co Rd 10, Foley- $2.49

I would guess/hope most of the marinas are sitting on gas they bought at higher prices, and average price will come down as they start refilling their tanks.

That is correct on how we as marinas price our gas. It is not dependent on the market at all (At least our price is not), we set our margin directly on what our last load costs and usually change prices each time fuel is delivered. A lot of us, due to this slow season, got stuck with expensive gas and it took a while to sell it before we could lower our prices. We are currently at $3.39 for 89 non ethanol that we bought a month or so ago
