OUt today with friend on his boat. Motor is a 2006 Honda 4 stroke 25 hp.

Back by the pee hole there are two more similar holes with tube running to somehere on the motor. Can't see where they end up.

One of the holes has a brown stain around the opening. The other is clear.

Can anyone tell me what these two holes are for?

Carb vents make sense rather than drain holes. Each hole has a connector where a rubber tube connects and the tubes run up into the motor to something. Can't see where they go without taking off some stuff. If they vent the carbs I'm thinking one carb might be a little out since one hole has a brown stain around it, but the other is clean.

Neither of us know anything about motors but were curious about the holes. The reason I asked the question is yesterday when we left the landing another boat was behind us for about 2 or 3 miles before he turned off in a different direction. We met up with him later and he said our motor was smoking like a steam coming from it when they were following. My first though was why didn't he catch up to us and let us know of a potential problem. His boat was faster than ours. I was in back of boat only 3 feet from the motor and didn't notice anything and I looked back a couple of times to check on the following boat.
Anyway, when we left the mullet hole we removed the cowling and I watch the motor for any problem. Did not see anything. That's when I notice the 3 holes with one peeing water and the other two ?

schematic diagram

Yep, I believe the diagram solves the mystery. Thanks so much for the reference. I had been looking for something like this. Will send it on to my friend.
